On the evening of September 11, 2016, Barb joined our lord in peace and grace at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena after battling cancer for many years. Barb was 65 years old.
Barb was born in Helena on December 5, 1950. She was the middle of 5 children to Mary Belle and Edward Holshue.
Throughout her life Barb excelled at baking and sewing. Wedding dresses, jackets, vests blankets and Santas are just some of the things Barb created to show her love to her family and friends. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who made cookies or cakes better than hers. She made all of these things with love and kindness.
Barb was committed to the Catholic Church. She often said during hard times “do what you can and leave the rest up to God.”
Barb was a very kind, compassionate and loving mother to her two kids. If there was a need from one of her kids, she would find a way to deliver that need. She always bent over backwards to provide a great life for her kids. She was always looking for a way to make her kids smile. Later in her life she would ask for constant updates on her children and grandchildren. Her children were the most important part of her life.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Belle Holshue and Brothers Jon and Jeff Holshue and her best friend Dianne Copeland.
Barb is survived by her brother Russell Holshue, her sister Patty Peters, her children Sarah Dudley-Baus and Nathan Dudley and her three grandchildren: Connor, Sophia and Tristan.

Nathan, Sarah and family
I was sorry to learn that your mom passed away. I am also very sorry I was not a better friend to visit her these last few months. I worked with Barb for many years. She was a wonderful person and will be missed by many. My deepest sympathy. God bless you all. Diane Pedersen.

Sarah, Nathan, Patty, Russ and family – Know she is not in pain and at peace. She has flown with the angels home. As the new song written by Pink for Celine Dion titled “Recovering” implies may we begin – “Little by little, day by day/ One step at a time/ Shake off the devil/ Take back my piece of mind/ I am recovering.” Love you cousin!

Sarah and Nathan, I was so sorry to hear about Barb passing away. We worked together and we sat by each other for a few years. I loved to visit with her about her sewing and her precious twins. She loved face time with them so much. We loved seeing Nathan coming in to bring her lunch and visit with her. You both made her world so much brighter. She felt so loved by you both! My prayers are with you and your family.

She was always positive and such a hard worker. Keep her memories close to you as you deal with this heartbreaking loss. She loved you all so much and was very proud of you. Kathy Strobel
Claudene and Steve Carkeek says
Barb was my neighbor and one of my first friends. She was 3 and I was 4 when we first met. She had long braids and they called her “Bobby!” We were friends into adulthood and I loved her. She was talented and hard working, and met every challenge head-on! Her kids meant the world to her! She poured herself into them and never regretted it. Even on the Saturday before she passed, they were all she talked about. We will miss her! – Claudene and Steve
Donna Gregg & Mike McGuire says
Sarah, Nathan and Barb’s family
Mike and I were so sorry to hear of the loss of Barb. She was a great lady, a hard worker and a wonderful seamstress. Barb made my wedding dress as well as the wedding cake making our day that much more special. Barb loved her family so much. We will all miss her
Janet Harrell Campbell says
As children we lived across the street from each other, we celebrated December birthdays, played outdoors until the street lights came on and learned to sew just like our mothers who shared the first name— Mary. Through the years, we stayed in touch via Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter cards and always news about the children–her most precious legacy!
Our prayers and thoughts go with you Sarah, Nathan, Patti and Russ! May her sweet spirit live on in each of you. Janet & Jules Harrell & families!
Sherrie says
Sorry for your loss. Your mom was a neat lady .took care of her at the nursing home.
Rae Jerrel says
Your mother was a fantastic woman in every facet of her life. Other than working with her and chatting with her on a daily basis for many years, one memory of her service sticks out in my mind. She sewed my daughter’s costume for her pantomine “show” when she was competing in high school. That year she came in second in the statewide competition. My daughter still has the costume and she cherishes it for all the memories it has given her.
May God keep you in his sheltering arms as you go through the process of healing your broken hearts and grieving for a mother who is now in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Rae Jerrel
Lila says
Sarah, Nathan and family, my heart goes out to you. Barb was one of the sweetest people I knew. She did beautiful dresses for my wedding and was always fun to talk to at work.
