Barb Grimes, 76, of Lincoln Montana, passed away peacefully on December 25th, 2023. She was born on May 16th, 1947, in Butte Montana to Joyce and Richard Vashro. She married Mike Grimes on July 3rd, 1970, and they had 2 children.
Barb was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated herself to her family, protecting them, teaching them, and loving them. She had a kind and generous heart and a gentle spirit. She loved all creatures, especially her dogs. She enjoyed the outdoors and watching the wildlife around her cabin. She had a special fondness for Montana, where she spent many happy years with her family and friends.
Barb was a woman of faith who always asked for a little prayer to God when she was stressed or upset. She was grateful for the blessings in her life and never complained about the hardships. She learned from her difficult environment growing up but never felt that it was unfair. She was a compassionate person, drawn to helping others and would do anything for her family.
Barb was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce and her father Richard. She is survived by her husband, Mike, her children, Autumn Browning (Greg Browning) and Russell Grimes (Rachel Grimes) her grandchildren, Cooper Browning and Oriah Grimes, and her siblings, Danny Vashro, Jennifer Bennett (Brad Bennett), Mary Lamb (John Lamb), Mike Vashro (Gwen Vashro), and Jim Vashro (Sandi Vashro).
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 17th, 2024, at Anderson Stevenson & Wilke Funeral Home located at 3750 N. Montana Ave, Helena, Montana. Family and friend gatherings will occur afterwards. The family requests those who wish to send a memorial in Barb’s name to consider a donation to the Missoula Humane Society or to Farm in the Dell, 6080 Gin Dale Road; East Helena, Montana 59635.
The family would like to thank Partners Hospice, Staff of The Village Memory Care Unit and the Life of Leisure Home Care for their compassionate care and support during Barb’s final days.

I’m so very sorry for your great loss. I have so many wonderful memories with Barb. Out “Last of the 5,00 float was an experience to be cherished. I will pray for your peace in your lossWe collected insects galore around Austin for our extensive biology collection; she introduced me to my husband of 49 years and she lived with my parents for a while after our graduation, greatly filling their void of having their 2 children marry. Barb “Bobbie” as we all calked her was one of a kind!

Dear Grimes family,
We are so sad to hear of Barb’s passing. She and Mike were some of our first clients at Bridger Vet and we couldn’t have asked for better friends. Barb truly cared about everyone and was so proud of her two and four legged family. With thoughts and prayers,

Mike, Autumn and Russell,
I was so sad to hear of Barb’s passing. She was a dear friend to me in the years gone by when our kids were young. She was a woman of great kindness and always shared a hug and a smile even when I last saw her and she was no longer sure who I was. She will be remembered with much tenderness and respect.

Janice Radeck says
Dear Mike and Family,
I’m just now reading the announcement about Barb. My heart is heavy knowing how difficult it is for you and your children to live each day without your precious Wife and Mother. As you may know, John moved to his eternal home June 30, 2017. I have missed my friends and my life in Helena. I’m seriously thinking of buying a home in Helena.
I moved to South Carolina; but my heart remained in Helena. My sincere prayers for you and your family to find peace during this difficult time. May God hold you close and grant you His peace. Love, Janice Radeck

Dearest Mike, Russell, Autumn, and families.
It is with a broken heart for you all with the loss of Barb.
Your families have been very close with ours for such a long time, you are family. Living next to each other in Lincoln as our closet neighbors. Spending time together, enjoying the beauty of the Wilderness we grew up in.
The gorgeous fields of Camas and Lupine. The trails and flats of fluffy new fallen snow.
She is now there, waiting for all of us to join her.
We love you Barb, until we see you again!
Todd and Barbie Fisher

Mike and Autumn I’m so sorry for your loss. Barb was the sweetest person I knew and had the pleasure of being one of her care givers through life of leisure. Our nail outings were so fun. She was so kind and spoke of you both often, having me call Mike all the time when he was out to make sure he was ok. She will be greatly missed 💜❤️💖
