On Thursday, December 15, Debra “Debbie” Alex Kerouac took her last breath on earth and her first breath in heaven. We can all assume she has already been dancing in circles since her arrival. Those that knew her, loved her. She lit up any room she walked into with her beautiful smile and kind heart.
Debbie was born on July 30, 1954, in Cut Bank, Montana. She worked in banking many years and made friends wherever she went. She was a long-standing member of the Moose Lodge where she held many positions. Debbie loved to bowl and dance and brag about her two beautiful granddaughters. She loved hard and unconditionally. Her family meant everything to her.
Many loved ones went before her including her parents, Harry G. Alex, Helen Johnson and Elvira Alex, siblings Gene Alex, Clara Henderson, Bonnie Freed, Nancy Waldenburg, Linda Flynn, Linda Stoffel and niece Renee Dobson.
Debbie is survived by her significant other, Leon Ostrowski of the home, daughter Shyla (Jim) Allers, and granddaughters Madeline and Mackenzie of Comstock Park, Michigan, siblings Shirley Dobson of Payson, AZ, Darlene (Doug) Kohlbeck of Kalispell, MT, Jeri Alex of Kalispell, MT, Dick (Annie) Alex of Kalispell, MT, RJ (Carol) Alex of Castle Rock, CO, Estelle Birza of Highland Rach, CO; Carol Sanford of Bozeman, MT; Sharon Wollan of Laurel, MT and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend to so many and will be dearly missed. A celebration of her life will be held in Cut Bank in late spring/early summer.

Debbie was on my bowling team and we had so much fun together. She was always happy and we found the silliest things to laugh about. I looked forward to seeing her every week. She was a very caring and thoughtful person. She checked on me everytime I had treatment. I will miss her so much.
I wish you comfort during this difficult time. She talked about you all the time and loved you all so much.

Debbie was one of mt first friends when I moved to Cut Bank, I remember, first as an acutance, then an employee, then a bowling partner and as friend for life. Debbie I cannot believe you are gone and I will miss you the rest of my life. We shared so many happy times together and you always welcomed my other friends and family. Leon (handyman) my thoughts and prayers are with you. ❤️

I also want to say my thoughts and prayers are with shyla and her family, as well as the extended family. Shyla you were so important to your mam as were your daughters. My thoughts and prayers are with you too.

It sounds almost dismissive to say that Debbie was nice. Nice is such a small word. But the dictionary definition of nice includes “likable, pleasing and agreeable, respectable, well-mannered, suitable and proper, helpful and considerate.” I would add to that a good friend, caring and thoughtful. It turns out that Debbie was the epitome of nice and will be missed by all of us Tuesday Ladies bowlers. We join in sending our deepest sympathies to her family at this difficult time.

Oh, Debbie you went too soon! I met Debbie when we were in college in Havre and we hit if off right away. We worked, studied and danced together and even lived right next door from each other. Yes, Debbie was an awesome and positive person who always greeted you with “Hello Sunshine”! Your family are in my thoughts and prayers and even though I did not get to visit you in Helena, we will meet again in heaven and I will be blessed with your presence once again. Please let me know when and where your celebrations of life will be held.
