Don left us to be with to be with his Lord and family on April 5, 2017. Don was born in Laurel, Montana in 1939 to Veronica and Edward Sekora. Don was the middle son with an older brother Jack and his younger brother David.
Don was a devout Catholic and spent several of his teenager years in the Seminary training to become a priest and then chose to leave his pursuit of the priesthood in order to become a husband and father. He attended Carroll College graduating in 1962 with a Bachelor’s degree in Gerontological Social Work, after which he achieved his Master’s degree from Portland State. Don worked for the Department of Public Health and Human Services for 30 years in the Adult Protective Services Program, where he was pivotal in the formation and implementation of the Elder Abuse Laws and Developmental Disabilities Program for the State of Montana. Don also served over 20 years in the United States Army Reserve reaching the rank of Major before his retirement from the Reserves.
He married his wife Connie in 1964 and they had three children together, Scott, Lance and Roberta. Don is proceeded in death by his parents Veronica and Edward, his beloved wife Connie, his son Scott and his oldest brother Jack. Don is survived by his son Lance (Nicole), his daughter Roberta and two grandchildren Andrew (Britta) and Matthew (Jessica) and a great grandson Nicholas (Matthew).
He was loved by many and his kindness and generosity of spirit will be missed dearly.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12th at the Cathedral of St. Helena, 530 N. Ewing Street.
