Donna Loraine Walker
On the morning of March 5, 2016, Donna passed away peacefully in the comfort of her family at St. Peters Hospital in Helena, Montana as a result of natural causes. Donna was 58 years old.
Donna was born in Liverpool, England on February 9, 1958. She was the second child of four, and first daughter of Margaret and William Walker.
Donna’s father was in the U.S. Air Force. After his discharge, the family came to the United States, specifically Polson, MT. Donna was five months old. After several years, the family moved to Missoula. Her father passed away in 1969, due to illness, at the age of 39. The next year, the family moved to Stevensville, and Margaret married Jerome Teafoe. This is where Donna’s love of horses really began. During the move, Donna rode the family horse the 30 miles from Missoula to Stevensville. After this, Donna competed in several endurance rides. The family had horses, a milk cow, pigs, chickens, geese, rabbits, and, for about a year, a black bear named Wob. One evening, a neighbor was leaving after a visit and ran back inside, saying, “I’ll kill him! I’m going to kill that S.O.B!” He had been the victim of a vicious rooster attack. (He thought it was the bear at first!)
Donna continued training horses. This is where her stubbornness and determination really shone through. There wasn’t a horse she couldn’t break. She trained many fine cutting horses and saddle horses. She loved to be outside. In her spare time, she was usually at the lake with her dog, or out in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, good luck finding her! When she decided to stay home, she would relax and watch John Wayne duke it out or maybe something a little more peaceful on the outdoor network.
The highlight of her life was spending time with her grandchildren. Her and Malaki would always say back and forth to each other, “I love you mostest!” She spent many hours “getting her makeup done” by four-year-old Shelby. She would always end her visits with “Where’s my hugs and kisses?”
She was always straight-forward. Even if you didn’t like it, you could count on her to give you her honest opinion. She never ran short on comedy though, even to the end. She told us in October, that for Halloween, she was going as a Zombie attack victim, playing on her recent craniotomy.
Donna is survived by: Her loving “mom and dad” Margaret and Jerome Teafoe; Siblings David, Daryl, and Debbie; Sons David, William and wife Jessica, and Levi; Grandchildren Sydney, Mackenzie, Cassidy, Malaki, Shelby, and one more on the way.
Memorials may be sent to the Anderson Stevenson Wilke funeral home. Donations, in the name of Benefit for Donna Walker, may be made at First Interstate Bank.
