David Edward “Ed” Bollinger, age 62, of Helena passed away Sunday, November 5th in Cut Bank, Montana. Ed was born to Earl and Edna Bollinger on May 19, 1955 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; he was the first of ten children.
Ed grew up in Big Piney, Wyoming. During his youth, Ed was adventurous and enjoyed all kinds of sports. As he grew up in rural Wyoming, he and his friends found creative and ingenuous ways to have fun and enjoy life. During his youth, he was an accomplished young man. He had received medals for track and choir as well as many trophies for football and motocross.
After graduating high school, he and his family moved to Ashton, Idaho; this is where he met and married his first wife, Neysha Nerrings. They were married on May 6, 1978 and were married for 23 years. In 1987, they adopted their daughter, Katie. While living in Idaho, Ed enjoyed being outdoors. He and his brothers; Jim, Lyle, Charlie, Eric and Duncan made the most of spending time together hunting, fishing, going on snowmobile trips, boating and just generally spending time together. They went javelina hunting in Arizona as well as salmon fishing in Alaska. He was blessed with having brothers as best friends.
In 2005, Ed married his best friend and elementary school sweetheart, Carol Crockett. Together they had a very beautiful and productive life. Through this marriage, Ed acquired another daughter by the name of Tara Murdock.
Ed was a very accomplished adult as well. He gave his very best at everything he did. He was a very genuine, salt-of-the-earth, blue collar kind of man. He could get dirty and he also looked extraordinary in a suit. He really was a jack of all trades. He was an AMAZING truck driver, he could drive any piece of equipment put in front of him. Whatever he did, he did it with pride. Including being a grandparent. Kiera and Mikayla were the apples of his eye.
Finally, Ed passed away a happy man. He touched everyone he ever came in contact with. He will be remembered with fondness and missed by so many.
Ed is survived by his wife and best friend, Carol Crockett; his daughters, Katie (Tom) Grewell and Tara Murdock; his brothers and sisters, Jimmy (Suzette) Bollinger, Lyle (Kathy) Bollinger, Charlie (Sue) Bollinger, Leslie (Mike) Earle, Eric Bollinger, Duncan Bollinger, Mark Bollinger, Pat (Kent) Gross and Barbara (Greg) Overton; grandchildren, Kiera and Mikayla Grewell and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Edna Bollinger.
Ed’s family would like to extend a special Thank You to his trucking family at R&R Diesel Repair as well as to Robby and Sonya McLean who were with him during the last weeks of his life and who showed him the best time he had for a while.
A service celebrating Ed’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. I had respect for Eddy for he was the oldest of all the siblings. When his parents was away he took comand of his brothers and sisters and made sure they were ok.I became sort of a family member of theirs when they lived in Big Piney, Wyoming. What a shock to hear of his passing! My thoughts go out to his family and to Carol. So long Eddy.
