Elgerlien N. “Elgy” Ackerman 80, of Helena formerly of Aberdeen and Hosmer, South Dakota, passed away peacefully September, 10 2011 in Helena.
She was born in Akaska, South Dakota January 30, 1931 to Christ and Louisa Kulm. She was raised in Mobridge, SD and graduated high school in 1949. Elgy and Oscar Ackerman were married August 12, 1950 in Mobridge, South Dakota. She attended Northern State College in Aberdeen and received her teaching certificate. Elgy worked as a bookkeeper for Brown County in Aberdeen. Oscar preceded her in death September 17, 2005.
Elgy is survived by her children, Gaye & Pat Ackerman, Von and Joyce Ackerman, Ivey Ackerman and Jon and Sue Ackerman; brother, Gale Kulm; grandchildren, Jeremy Ackerman, Brea Ackerman, Katie O’Leary, Matthew Ackerman, Amy Ackerman and one great grandchild, Clay Ackerman.
Visitation hours will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a celebration of Elgy’s life to be at 11:00 a.m. today, September 11th at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. Memorials in Elgy’s name are suggested to the Cancer Treatment Center at St. Peter’s Hospital 2475 Broadway Street Helena, MT 59601.
