Eva May Woehl, age 81, of Helena, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on December 12, 2012 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena. Eva was born September 12, 1931 to Samuel Smith and Anna Heller in Hardin, Montana.
Eva is survived by her daughter, Arletta ‘Priss’ (Bill) Leslie; sisters, Pauline Super, Donnie (Jim) Hultin, and sister-in-law, Betty Smith of Missoula; her granddaughter, Misty Christensen; grandson, Travis Leslie; great granddaughter, Eve Christensen; her aunt, Vera Wiebert of Hardin; and brothers, Bob and Butch Smith. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Anna Smith; her brothers, Harry, Sam, Bill, and Raymond ‘Buz’ Smith; her sister, Anna ‘Kate’ Dean; nephews, Kirk Hultin and Aaron Dean; and a granddaughter, Angela Marie Leslie.
Eva was a kind hearted woman always willing to do anything for anyone and would give anyone who needed it the shirt off her back and didn’t ask for anything in return. She spent her early career as one of the first ‘car hops’ at the RB Drive Inn in Helena. She then worked for various other restaurants, Insurance companies, Mountain Bell, and the Masonic Home of Helena.
In her retired years, Eva spent her days caring for her mother and two brothers, Sam and Buz, on Sam’s cattle ranch here in Helena where she cooked, cleaned, and helped with the general household chores. Much of her cooking and baking, known as kitchen sweepings, could have left many chefs behind. Eva also helped raise her grandchildren and her great granddaughter, Eve, who meant everything to Eva. She loved to sew, crochet, read, watch western shows, camp, cook, and bake. One year she sewed all of the shirts for one of the drill teams, here in Helena, of gold satin material. Eva loved all of her family and friends and had many friends all over the States that she kept in touch with.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial that will take place on December 21, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the family home, 2502 Willy’s Rd., Helena, MT 59602.
Memorials are suggested to an account set up in Eva’s great granddaughter‘s name, Eve Christensen, at the Valley Bank of Helena. To offer a condolence to the family or to share a memory of Eva, please visit www.aswfuneralhome.com.

I want to express my sincere sympathy for the loss of your loved one and I hope the following suggestions help the family members and those who loved Eva Woehl to lessen their grief.
• Talk about your feelings to “a true companion” who will listen patiently and sympathetically.
• If you have feelings of guilt thinking that some neglect on your part contributed to your loved one’s death, realize though, that no matter how much we love another person, we cannot prevent “time and unforeseen occurrence from befalling those we love. (Ecclesiastes 9:11)
More than anything else, a relationship with God can help you to cope with the death of someone you love. Isaiah 33:24 promises the time when an end to sickness will become a reality. God will put an end to pain, suffering and even DEATH. God promises at Isaiah 25:8 that death will be swallowed up forever.
