Evelyn Loretta Baril (Jenny) passed away peacefully on January 16, 2013 in Helena in the care of her family, Rosetta Assisted Living, and Hospice of St. Peters.
She was born in Great Falls on December 10, 1925 to Grace (Novok) and Samuel P. Holliwell. At age 8, she was placed, along with her sister Katherine Jean, in the Montana Children’s Home in Twin Bridges. At placement, she was mistakenly named Genevieve, and the children quickly shortened this to Jenny. This was a nickname that stayed for life. At age 15, as was customary for the Children’s Center, she was placed under the care of Christina and Frank X. Baril on their farm west of Sheridan, Montana. Here she first met Frank Baril, Jr., who she later married in 1944. In 1942 she trained in California and then worked in aircraft construction as a “Rosie the Riveter” before returning to Montana. In the mid-1960’s she completed correspondence courses for a high school diploma and enrolled at Northern Montana College in Havre where she completed the requirements to be a Registered Nurse. After the death of Frank, her husband, she made Sheridan her home. She loved her children, music, and gardening; and understood organic gardening long before it was well known. She was a devout Christian and spent a portion of every day studying to deepen her faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank. She is survived by her seven children: Steven (Cindy), Nicolette, Randall (Lou Ann), Samuel, Frank, Rosanna (Randall), and Christina, along with grand and great-grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, no funeral services are planned. She is to be interred in the cemetery at Sheridan, Montana.
The family wished to extend their thanks to Rosetta Assisted Living and Hospice of St. Peters for the love and care they gave to Jenny.

Dear Baril Family,
My condolences to your family for the loss of your mother, she was a good friend
to my mother Betty and I believe a shirt-tail relation to her sister Francis. I went to
school with Tina…my goodness how the years have passed. My thoughts and prayers
are with you at this time.
Sincerely
