Gary W. Hoge
Gary W. Hoge was released from his earthly bonds by his Lord and Savior at his home in Helena, MT on Sunday December, 13, 2015.
Gary was born February, 7, 1941 to William Hoge and Emma Flemmer Hoge, in a cabin in White’s Gulch, where he spent the first five years of his life. The family then moved to the Helena Valley where Gary has lived the rest of his life.
He married Patricia Johnson on January, 19, 1962 in Helena. Gary was known as a hard working man. He was a farmer, a mechanic, a contractor, a long-haul truck driver and ran his own construction business for many years. He worked for and retired from the Helena School District in 2003. Gary belonged to the Montana National Guard, the Helena Snowdrifters, and the Ponderosa Snow Warriors.
Gary was a championship winning stock car racer and loved to watch NASCAR. He also enjoyed rodeo team roping, snowmobiling, camping, and horseback pack trips. In his younger days, Gary dabbled with adrenaline and trouble, but always with good intentions, and always with the underdog well protected and represented.
Gary loved all animals from his horses to the prairie dogs in his field, and especially his dogs. He cherished spending time with all of his family, especially his grandchildren and always went the extra mile to make holidays special and memorable. His exciting Easter treasure hunts will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Hoge, children; Cindy (Peter) Beich, Vickie Lindeman, and Leslie (Benjamin) Clack. Also surviving brother; Delano (Bonnie) Hoge, surviving Grandchildren; Kenneth (Samantha) Berryman, Nicholas Berryman, Briana (Henry) Sorensen, Shelby Beich, and Christian Clack, as well as a Great Granddaughter, Emma Berryman, and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, William Hoge, mother, Emma Hoge, brothers, Wally and William Hoge II, and sister, Evelyn Baxter.
“I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” Isaiah 46:4

Papa once caught me escaping from my crib and as I had one leg hanging out of the crib he walked in the room with his dirty work clothes on and before he could say anything I said “nice boots papa..” and year after year he told me that story and I will never ever for get the smile on his face and that chuckle!

I remember riding the school bus with Gary, Walley and Delano about 60 years ago. He was a good man with a great family. It seems good that the Darcy school is on the old Hoge place. Condolences to the family.
