George C. Goethals, age 64, of Lincoln passed away June 10, 2012. George was born to Frances (Goergen) and Camiel A Goethals on February 22, 1948 in Davison Countly, South Dakota. He Graduated from Lineman School in Mitchell, South Dakota. George served in the Vietnam War while enlisted in the Navy and married Patricia on February 19, 1983 in Fairview, Montana. George worked all across South Dakota and Montana. He spent 32 years with REA as a journeyman, lineman, and supervisor. Following his retirement from REA he worked for four years with IIC in Montana, Canada, and Wyoming.
Goerge was an avid hunter. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, fishing and camping were some of his favorite activities; he truly loved Montana.
Goerge is survived by his wife, Patricia A Goethals; Sons Todd A. Goethals of Augusta,MT, Ryan Goethals of Blackhawk, SD, and Mark Arthur of Lincoln, MT.; Brothers Eddie (Marilee) Goethals, Bernie (Julie) Goethals; and sister Gladys and her husband Jim. He is also survived by his three grandchildren; Deja and Bret Arthur of Lincoln and Mark Arthur Jr of Billings, MT.
George was preceded in death by his father Camiel A. Goethals and Mother Frances (Goergen) Goethals.
George will be remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends.
There will be a memorial gathering on Saturday, July 7th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Hooper Park, 948 Main Street, Lincoln, Montana. There will also be a memorial gathering at Terry Peak, South Dakota later this summer.
