Gordon Keith Tichenor passed away peacefully of old age on August 5, 2024, in Great Falls, Montana. Gordon, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was 89 years old. He was born on December 26, 1934, in Glasgow, Montana, to Roy C. Tichenor and Marian L. Foote.
Gordon’s early years were shaped by the values of hard work and dedication, honed during his time working on his grandparents’ dairy farm in Glasgow, MT during his teenage years. After completing high school, he continued to work diligently at a local gas station and tire shop, and later at Holly Furniture. In his adult life he then became owner of Joslins Furniture store.
In the mid-1950s, Gordon proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany from 1954 to 1956. His service to his country was a point of great pride and honor in his life.
Upon returning to civilian life, Gordon married Dorothy A. Rude in Boulder, Montana on August 22, 1959. Their marriage was a cornerstone of Gordon’s life, and they shared many happy years together, making their home in Helena, Montana. Dorothy passed away on November 29, 2018, leaving a lasting impression on Gordon and those that knew her.
Gordon’s interests and talents continued to flourish. His love of nature led him to cultivate his own garden. Fishing and camping were also passions of his, allowing him to find peace and joy in the great outdoors. Gordon’s skill in building fly rods was another testament to his craftsmanship and dedication to his hobbies, with each rod he created being a labor of love.
Gordon is survived by his children, Jeff Tichenor, Curt Tichenor, and Kent Tichenor; and his beloved grandchild, Tayler Tichenor. He is also remembered fondly by extended family and many friends who were touched by his generosity, kindness, and the joy he brought to those around him.
Gordon is preceded in death by his loving wife Dorthy Tichenor and son Brett Tichenor.
Arrangements will be made for a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
Gordon Keith Tichenor’s life was a testament to the virtues of hard work, dedication, and love for the simple pleasures of life. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his warmth, his talents, and the countless ways he enriched the lives of those around him.

I worked with Gordon in the 70s. He was always of good cheer and a pleasure to be around. He and his family endured heartbreak during that time and I always admired his steadfast bearing. RIP my friend
