Harry Joseph Kovich, age 93, of East Helena also known to many as “Stack” passed away Sunday March 25, 2012.
Harry was born in East Helena June 14, 1918 to John M. and Katherine (Tortic) Kovich. He received his education in Helena. Following his graduation Harry enlisted in the United States Army serving with the 77th Division in the Philippines and Okinawa during World War II.
Harry retired from ASARCO in 1981 after 42 years of service. He was a charter member of the V.F.W. Post 10010 in East Helena, a lifetime member of SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting fishing and gardening.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Leona “Blondie” Kovich, daughter, Harryette, brothers, John and his wife Katherine, Ed and Helen.
Harry is survived by his son, Loren Kovich of Montana City; six grandchildren, Tim, Cindy, Mike, Daniel, Kurt and Katie; son-in-law Jim Grose; five great grandchildren, Kevin, Amanda, Elizabeth, Katherine and Sarah.
Visitation will begin 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29th with a Vigil service to be held at 7:30 p.m. at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Avenue. Mass of Christian burial will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012 at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in East Helena. A reception will be in the social center of the church immediately following the Mass. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
