After an extended illness, Harry V. Fuller, Jr. died on November 7th, 2015 at his home in Helena.
Harry was born on July 7, 1937 to Harry and Hallie Fuller. He was a bright and happy child and his parent’s pride and joy. He grew up in East Helena and attended East Helena Public School and went on to Helena High School graduating in 1955.
During his high school years, along with participating in various sports programs, he worked early mornings as a milk delivery man and after school as a box boy at Buttery’s Supermarket. After graduating he worked at Mountain Bell as a mail room clerk. He then joined the Army and went on to be trained as a paratrooper in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. When he returned from his Army service he was welcomed back at “Ma” Bell and was trained as a technician installing and repairing phone systems and working as a lineman. He retired after 35 years of service.
In 1962 he married Beverly Glover and they were blessed with two sons, David and Kyle. They later divorced and in 1980 he married Nancy Fuller and they were together for eight years.
Harry was a life-long New York Yankees fan. His mood could sometimes be gauged by the wins or losses of his team and a World Series pennant was cause for great celebration. He loved Montana and the outdoors. In the summer time he took many adventurous pack trips into the Bob Marshall Wilderness and in the winter snowmobile trips into Yellowstone Park. He also worked part time at the State Nursery and a local carwash.
A tall man with a big heart, gentle soul and a great sense of humor he loved entertaining people with funny stories and a good joke or two. Many of his best tales were based on his own experiences which made them even better. He was a loyal friend to many and enjoyed making the rounds to visit with old buddies. One of his proudest accomplishments was his over 20 years of sobriety.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Hallie. He is survived by his two sons Kyle Fuller, and David (Meredith) Fuller and their two daughters, Katherine and Whitney and their husbands and three great-grandchildren and his siblings, brother David and sister Cathy of Helena.
Harry will be greatly missed by family and friends, but we all can be grateful for his love and friendship through the years. We have our happy memories of a good man.

I send condolences to Harry’s family. Harry and my husband, Fred, worked together at “Ma Bell” and over the years became good friends. Fred called him once to see if he could replace our wall phone. He asked what happened to the original one, and Fred told him our big black lab, Duke, took the phone off the wall and decided to eat it. Harry was one of the good guys for sure. He’s at peace now.

Our thoughts are with Harry’s family & loved ones at this time. Some of Harry’s buddies were visiting about some of Harry’s ventures this last Monday at HAPS (one of his old hangouts) not knowing he already earned his angel wings. It’s almost like Harry sent a goodby to us. Well, like the song goes, Harry lived a life that was full & traveled each & every highway, and more, much more than this, Harry did it his way. From Harry’s friends Evy, Judy, Tomcheck, & the 6th Ward Rats. Rest in Peace Harry.

The Fuller family we send our condolence. May you find peace by remembering stories of Sonny. I was fascinated by his height and even bigger smile.

Harry took me and my then-finance into the Bob Marshall wilderness area over a July 4th weekend many years ago. It rained almost all weekend, but Harry kept making us laugh so we didn’t really miss the sunshine. We were on top of the continental divide on the afternoon of July 4th and Harry said it was just about the finest place anyone could be. At that moment, the clouds broke and the sun came out…it was a moment in time I will never forget. If not for Harry, I would not have been at that spot at that time. He always treated me with gentleness and respect…and I will miss hm.

Remembering the stories of our family hunting adventures, with Harry being the main story; from running out of ammo, or using Fred Bakkes rifle to finish his attempt to down the massive wapiti, he made us all laugh so much! Glad to have had a talk with him not so long ago, and as always he made me laugh. He will be missed greatly, but his kind spirit lives on in his boys! Definitely one of the best brother in laws one could ever have, Rest easy, as now you are in paradise… Toney family!
