Jay Golden Barlow
In the early morning of April 30, 2022, three weeks shy of his 35th birthday, Jay went to be with Jesus. He passed peacefully in Mayo Clinic Hospital located in Phoenix AZ. He had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on April 6, 2022.
Jay was born in the town of Hildale, Washington County, Utah on May 21, 1987, as the youngest child of Martha Mae Hammon and Nephi Rulon Barlow.
Jay’s mom said he was her easiest child. He had a special relationship with her all his life. He was no stranger to the kitchen as she taught him how to cook and keep a clean environment. He was so proud of her, and he loved showing her off to people.
As a young man Jay enjoyed working in the construction field like his father, he always wanted to be involved in building something. He found comfort being around his many brothers and sisters and helping them with their projects.
Jay was a perfectionist and really appreciated things being done right. His work was his hobby. He excelled in working with concrete and framing. He also did dirt work, pole barns and house remodeling. He loved planning and paid close attention to detail. His last few years he spent doing estimates and bidding for Steed Industries.
Jay was “salt of the earth” in every situation he kept a positive outlook. He was generous even at great cost to himself. He included everyone and had a way of making people feel good about themselves. He showed up and gave support whenever needed.
Jay loved with a love that not many have the capacity to love in. He loved and adored Teresa with all his heart and was a very happy man to get to do so. You could feel and it see it in the way he talked about and treated her and her children too! He showed them a love that is not biased to bloodline, religion, or obligation. He and Teresa created something so beautiful together. He enjoyed watching his kids play sports and was the loudest and proudest Dad on the field.
He spent the last 2 years doing whatever it took to build a beautiful home. He was very excited watching it come together as he and his family worked on it and whenever they could.
Jay was preceded in death by his brother Jacob and his sister Cathleen.
Jay is survived by his wife Teresa, his children: Tileah and Malachi, his parents, his brothers: Fredrick, Mormon, Benjamin, Caleb, Hyrum, Neph, Leroy, Freeman, Amni, Thomas, Mosiah, Justice, John, Young, Remington, Oradan, Judson, Parker, James, Fielding, Chase, And his sisters: Adriana, Martha, Josephine, Sarah, Sariah, Irene, Naomi, Caneele, Gentle, Caroline, Alice, Hannah, Maria, and Renon.
