John Francis Miller passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on January 6, 2017. John was born to Robert Miller & Katherine Carroll Miller in Townsend, MT. He was the 3rd of 4 brothers. John married Margaret Miller on March 17, 1967 and together they had 3 children. John joined the Navy in October, 1963 and served on the ships, USS Bridget and USS Breckenridge. He was honorably discharged in July 1968 and served another 6 years in the Naval Reserves. John worked at Asarco beginning in 1968 and retired as a foreman in 1987. After retiring, John spent his time with family and friends camping, fishing and most recently riding his 3-wheeled Harley with his wife riding passenger. He is survived by his wife Margaret, and 3 children, John Miller, Rebecca Stearns (Dan), Mike Miller (Shana), and 6 grandchildren, Destin Hartzell, Dakota Hartzell, Jacob Stearns, Mercedes Miller, Angela Miller, & Serena Miller. Funeral services to be held at Fort Harrison Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 with burial to follow at VA Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Moose Lodge, North Montana Avenue, Helena.
