Jack passed away at his home, Wednesday, April 10, 2013. He was 77 years old. Jack was born in Helena, Montana, May 3, 1935 to his parents, John N. and Edna M. Darfler.
Jack was briefly in the military before being called home to take care of his mother and three sisters upon his father’s death. He also worked for the Forest Service and then started a 34 year career working as an engineer for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. He retired in 1990. After retiring, for many years Jack did contract work for telephone companies in Montana, Idaho and Colorado.
Hunting and fishing were Jack’s passion. He loved to hunt elk and deer in the mountains surrounding the Helena area, he also hunted antelope around Ryegate. He was very successful in his hunting adventures including a doll sheep from Alaska. It has been said about him that “ if he couldn’t shoot the animal he would walk it to death”.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Willie Cramer. He is survived by his wife, Frances M. Darfler, son John C. Darfler (Tami), daughters Patti Darfler (Neil Metzinger), Lisa Cramer, Arlette Cicolani (George), sons Alan Sevier (Lois) and Mike Sevier (Debbie) along with ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Sisters Donna Novak, Darlene Stanger, and Patti Warneke.
