Joseph Deschon died after an extended illness in Deer Lodge on July 11, 2016.
Born in Fort Belknap Mt. on December 5, 1959 to William and Katherine Deschon, Joey was the youngest of 13 children. Family later moved to Helena where Joey grew up. He attended May Butler Elementary School, Helena Junior High and Helena High. He found his passion when he was recruited by Mr. Curly O’Leary to join the all Indian Amateur Boxing Club, sponsored by The House of Wong, where he reached the level of Golden Gloves Boxer.
Prior to his death Joey was employed by Helena Indian Alliance and Rocky Mountain Ink Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Katherine and siblings David, Edwin, Willard, Woody, James, Alfred, Raymond, Linda, Edna and Penny. As well as his daughter Cassandra.
Joey is survived by his sisters, Carol Deschon, Marilyn Deschon and Mary Jessen. His children Kimberly Howard, David Kaufman, Savannah Azure and Linda Webb. Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Although, Joey wasn’t perfect nor a saint he was deeply loved.
A service celebrating Joe’s life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19th in the social hall at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave.
