On February 21, 1969, Bill and Patricia Hamann welcomed into this world Julia Kay Hamann. Sadly Julia’s journey was cut short on March 27, 2015 at the age of 46, but those were 46 of the most amazing years for her. Julia loved life and every living creature she came in contact with. “Except for ‘Goat Face’, she was not a fan of this unruly family pet” but cared for him, she did.
Her passion for loving, and respecting people for who they were was one part of her character yet shined the brightest. Julia’s most sacred accomplishments were her marriage to AJ and being the best “MaMa” for her children. Showing them “your socks don’t have to match to be an honorable person.”
Julia’s passion for cooking was endless entertainment for her family. She was most determined to become the next ‘Best Chef.’ She loved the music, movies and time period of the 50’s & 60’s and honored it to the end.
A sport that Julia excelled in was the game of billiards, both 8 ball and 9 ball, taking her to Local, State and National Tournaments.
Julia was truly an angel who walked among us. Showing love and respect in her most authentic way. She will forever be missed by all those who were blessed to have shared in her journey.
Julia is survived by her loving, husband AJ; her son Kevin; daughters Baylie and Ruby; her brother Dan and sister Theresa. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Janet and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Preceding Julia are her parents William and Patricia Hamann and her brother Scot.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss, AJ and family. Please lean on your friends and family as they are here for you. Julia was an amazing woman, mom and friend. We will truly miss her witt and sarcasm. We are often in positions where we don’t understand why things happen but everything happens for a reason. There was a bigger plan for her. We will always have Julia in our hearts. ~ Deanna 3-31-15

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. Words fall short of expressing my sorrow, shock and heartache for the loss of a truly wonderful soul! My tears fall right along besides yours, I pray for some ease of your pain!

“The Broken Chain”
We little knew that day
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you
You didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
And our lives are not the same,
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again.

I cant tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Julie was my best friend when the Wetch family lived in Flagstaff. I babysat Kev and Bay when Julie and AJ decided to be married. Julie and AJ were the kindest strongest people I knew. I still miss them. They stood by me through some hard times, and I stood by them. This world was a better place with Jules in it. I love you guys. Please remember I am here if you need anything. The depth of your loss is staggering I know. Justin lost his Dad a while ago. You never get over it, but you do get used to it. Its going to be ok. I promise.

The lights flickered & our free spirit escaped. We are bumping about in confusion, not quite in the dark, but knowing she is lighting a brighter place.
Get the party started for us, Jules. Many pieces of our hearts are already there with you & we will join you in our eternal time – not soon enough perhaps, but you will be here with us until we, too, escape the confines of gravity & time.
AJ & family, enfold in the love we bear & let it soothe the jagged edges of loss. Be patient with time & remember it takes a long time to put most of the million shattered pieces back together into some kind of working order. We love you also, & we can all help each other.
Kathryn Miller says
I consider myself very lucky that I even had the chance to spend 30 minutes with Julia while talking about my brother Glenn. I could tell in that brief moment of time that she was a beautiful soul. I’m so very sorry to her family and friends for this great loss.

I am sorry to hear of Julia’s passing. I didn’t know her well, but everytime I had seen her she was the funnest, most down to earth person in the room. She was so kind to me and I was a stranger, I cannot imagine the loss of such an amazing person to her family and close friends. God Bless you all and sorry for your loss.

aJ and family I am so sorry to hear about Julia’s passing, may she rest in peace and fly high playing pool with everyone up there. I will never forget her or the time walking around Walmart with her behind me and hearing someone saying me name while I was walking. Thinking of you guys during this time, wish I could be there for you this week.
Korri Galbraith says
When I first met her and AJ they treated me like they had known me for years. They were always so relaxed and warm. Treated me really, well better than I probably deserved to be treated. Julia went out of her way when she saw me to make friendly conversation and be a wonderful person. I’d like to think I wasn’t special and she did that for everybody. She was one of those ladies that makes guys like me believe that there are still women on this earth who knows what it is to be a lady. We’re all worse off without her here.
Laura Felch says

In all my arrogance, I often forget how very fragile life is.
My dear fiend Julia, I love you and I will always miss you!
Jim and Sydney Taber says
AJ, our deepest and most sincere sympathies go out to you and your family. Some lives are like diamonds – they pack a lot of light and brilliance into a small space – and Julia always sparkled. We offer some words from the poet Mary E. Frye that we hope you find comforting.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there; I did not die.
Carissa Odegard says
Aj, Baylie, Kevin and Ruby…
My Sincere and deepest condolences to all of you in this time of loss and grief. Julia was such an amazing person, always had a smile on her face and never judgemental towards others. She lit up the room wherever she was, always funny or with something witty to say! Every time I saw her, we would give eachother a big hug and she would make a “tv” around her face with her hands and say “Carissa, my favorite show!” We had a special bond, and she had that with many people. Her and I would pick the “soul music” on the juke box and when Marvin Gaye would come on, we knew that one of us had played it and we would look at eachother and smile! Julia was so kind that when I felt nobody cared about me, especially on my bday, she went out of her way and surprised me at pool with a card and an Al Green’s greatest hits CD and made me feel like someone actually cared. That’s the kind of person that she was. Not only was she funny, but she had a heart of gold. Julia, I will miss you dearly and love and cherish your friendship always. May you rest in peace my friend…
Jessica Hoag says
AJ and Family,
Randy and I are thinking about you guys every day and sending you our love. Echoes of Julia’s solid witty advice, contagious laugh, nick-names and jokes, and general good- goodness, linger with us all. She owns real estate in many hearts; in mine it is right where I keep tie-die, high-fives, and Shoop. Thank you so much for sharing her with us. She was truly a ray of light on a rainy day.

AJ and family, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I only had the pleasure of knowing Julia from Weds pool but even in that limited time it was easy to tell that she was a special person and will be greatly missed.
Muriel Stracener says
AJ, Family & Friends,
My sincerest and deepest sympathies are with you all. You are and will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Jon Pallister says
AJ and family,
Oh so very sorry for your loss. If there is anything at all that I may do for you, please do not hesitate to ask AJ. A cloud has cast a shadow over you now but in time it will disipate and things will again be okay. Hold onto the memories forever as they will offer to you the help you need to overcome your grief. Look for that special star in the night sky that will help remind you of Julia each time you see it, or that big tree on the horizon standing tall reminding you of the special bonds you have, or that wild animal or bird that you see frequently in your path that will help remind you that things continue to move on. Gone but never forgotten. God bless all of you.
Randy Hoag says
AJ and Family, I’m so sorry for your loss. I will always remember every time Julia would see me, she’d yell out.. “Randy Hoag, fun to say and fun to know”… and come up and give me a big high five… That saying caught on as other pool players would tell me that from time to time as well.. but it all started with her. Julia was honestly one of the funniest people I have ever known. Her sense of humor and sarcasm were second to none. I also loved to hear her stories about the goat.. we all know how those stories started… and her delivery would make my gut hurt from laughing. I will never forget her, and she will be truly missed by anyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Gina Blaney says
You were my amazing friend. So many memories that brought so much laughter and joy. No matter how much time would go between us when we talk it was as if we talked everyday. You can’t buy friendship like that. You will be forever with me in my heart. RIP and tell David hi for me. Miss you…. Love you my beautiful friend till we meet again.
Ronni Burke says
“When I die
Give what’s left of me away
To children
And old men that wait to die.
And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you
And when you need me,
Put your arms
Around anyone
And give to them
What you need to give to me.
I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.
Look for me
In the people I’ve known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live in your eyes
And not on your mind.
You can love me most
By letting
Hands touch hands
By letting
Bodies touch bodies
And by letting go
Of children
That need to be free.
Love doesn’t die,
People do.
So, when all that’s left of me
Is love,
Give me away”
― by Merrit Malloy
I Love you, Julia. I will honor your memory everyday by asking myself, ‘WWJD?’ (What would Julia do?) You will always be in my heart. <3
JUDY KIRKLING( LEE FAMILY COUSIN) says
JULIA, YOU CAME TO INDIANA TO VISIT ME AND IT WAS THIS TIME OF YEAR. YOU SAT ON MY FRONT PORCH ON YOUR FIRST MORNING AND ENJOYED LOOKING AT ALL OF THE BLOOMING AND BUDDING OF THE NEW SPRING FLOWERS. I CAME OUT AND TOLD HER BREAKFAST WAS READY AND SHE SAID “CUZ WHAT IS THAT TREE?” I TOLD HER A RED BUD TREE. JULIE PAUSED FOR A SECOND AND SAID,” THAT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TREE I HAVE EVER SEEN!” I AGREED WITH HER AS SHE CONTINUED TO STARE AT THE TREE AND SAID,” WHENEVER I SEE A TREE LIKE THAT AGAIN JUST KNOW I WILL THINK OF YOU CUZ.”
I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD BE LOOKING AT ALL THE RED BUDS BLOOMING IN INDIANA AND THINKING ABOUT MISSING MY YOUNGEST COUSIN. I HOPE HEAVEN IS FILLED WITH RED BUD TREES FOR JULIE TO ENJOY UNTIL WE CAN SIT TOGETHER AGAIN AND ENJOY THEM. THE LEE FAMILY HAS LOST A BEAUTIFUL BLOOM FROM OUR FAMILY.
Rob & Gail Ricker says

So sad to hear of Julia’s passing. The Hamann family has always had a special place in my heart. We all were cousins from Peoria Heights. She will be truly missed by many.
Dan McGurran says
Julia, Tric & I were just reminiscing about you, knowing you reminded us of someone, and Tric hit upon it. The female version of George Carlin. Dry wit. Deep thinker. One of the funniest. You were the person, when everyone was thinking the same thing, that would come out and say it. Always true to yourself. Always true to your friends. Would have loved to know you a lot longer. We’ll all be watchin’ out for AJ and the girls. Play a game with Phil B and tell him I said Hi. Rest in peace Julia. We all love you. Dan & Tric
Kelly Smail says
My condolences to your family…
Julia, I hope you’re shooting a few with Phil B. and Mark B.
Since we met through pool, that’ll be where I remember you best, shooting leagues. (APA, BCA, Valley…) You reminded me that pool is more than the racks won and lost, it is the relationships made along the way. Though we didn’t shoot on the same teams, I enjoyed the time and the matches. Reading the notes above, I see I’m not alone in seeing that.
Until we meet again,
Kelly
