Laurna J. Mizner passed away on Sept. 30, 2013. She was born on March 4, 1926, to Thomas and Augusta Mirehouse.
She was raised on a small ranch in Travis Creek near Clancy. She and her brother, Lester, walked a mile and a half uphill to the Travis Creek School in early spring and summer, but when school was out for the day it was great — the walk home was all downhill. They stopped along the way to feed the chipmunks bread crumbs they saved from the lunch they carried and threw sticks in the beaver pond to make “Mr. Beaver” slap his tail and dive under.
Later, the family moved to Helena so the kids could go to high school. Mom graduated from Helena High School in 1943. Mom was a 50-plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and also a past member of the Ladies Eagles Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Augusta Mirehouse; three brothers, Ernest, Gilman and Lester Mirehouse.
She is survived by her sister, Betty (Earl) Wolhfrom and family; daughter, Arlene (Harold) Therriault; grandsons, Jason (Jodi) Therriault and Brian (Dawn) Therriault; and great-grandchildren, Taelar, Madison, Shayla, Hunter and Tristyn Therriault.
Win, Lose or Draw — We will see you later, Mom!
Love you, Arlene
