Mary Louise Foster died Mar. 5, 2014, after a sudden decline in health. She was the older child of George and Thelma Wiley, and grew up in Denver, CO. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she received a BS in Medical Technology, in which profession she worked for 7 years. She married George A. Foster Jr. in 1958.
She is survived by her husband, sons George (Beth) and J.R. (Liz), all of Helena, daughter Nancy Foster-Mills (Duke) of Richland, WA, grandchildren Carrie (Josh) Happoldt, (with great-granddaughter Bailey), Jill Foster, John Foster Jr., all of CO, and Cody Foster of MN, and her brother Frank Wiley of Ft. Wayne, IN.
She was active in Garden Clubs where she won many prizes for her creative flower arrangements, and she was a Master Judge for Garden and Flower Shows. She helped manage a used bookstore in Elkhart, IN for 15 years, co-owned by the Fosters and another couple. For an additional 10 years she was active in garden clubs in the northern suburbs of Chicago, IL. In 1999 Mary and George retired to Minden, NV, where she was very active with a small group of friends doing sewing and quilting projects. They moved to Helena, MT in 2012.
Cremation is planned, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice of St. Peter’s, Shriners Hospitals for Children, the Unitarian Universalist congregation of your choice, or the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association.

We are so sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. I enjoyed swimming at the Carson Valley Swim Center with Mary and George. We had a wonderful dinner together talking about gold mining. Even got to visit George’s mine. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary’s family.
