In Memory Of

Nancy Carol Wheat, age 59, of Helena, MT

November 21, 1963 – March 8, 2023

Nancy Carol Wheat was born in Salt Lake City, UT on November 21st, 1963, to David L. and Carol Wheat. Taken too soon from this Earth and so unexpectedly during the afternoon hours of March 8th, 2023. Nancy will reunite with her Mom & Dad in Heaven. At 59 years old, Nancy was the oldest of 4 siblings.

Her parents and siblings moved several times and eventually settled in Helena Montana where she stayed growing up, later residing in Winston Montana.

Growing up Nancy attended Helena High School in Helena Montana. She graduated in 1982. She had a great love of music and attended the high-school choir for all 4 years. Some of her favorite music artists were The Bay City Rollers, Andy Gibb, and Shawn Cassidy.

Nancy loved her family unconditionally and looked out for her brothers and sisters growing up and into adulthood. Nancy would constantly make sure to stay connected with all of her family and friends near and far. In her early years, a lot of her summers were spent with her cousins and family in Salt Lake City, UT, where she would get to know so many other relatives in the area.

Nancy opened a daycare after having her 2 children so she could care for them while she worked to take care of her family. After, when her children went to school, and she worked for the State of Montana for many years, where she retired due to declining health.

Nancy had a great love for the US Olympics. She would be sure that all her family was included in watching them with her and loved to tell everyone about it. She did not miss many.

Nancy had a very spiritual soul; she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Nancy was a beautiful soul. Anyone who knew Nancy knew just how much she cared about others and put others before herself. Nancy had a life full of love and compassion for others. She touched the lives of so many people.

Nancy loved to cook, sew, make tie blankets, and make crafts at Christmas time which was her favorite time of year. Nancy taught her children and grandchildren how to cook and bake family favorites. Baking with her grandchildren was her favorite thing to do. She would prop them up on a chair or the counter and let them get right in and get dirty. She loved it, she had great laughs and made great and unforgettable memories. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Her many conversations were about her children and grandchildren and how proud of them she was.

Nancy was a part of the East Helena Rodeo Association for many years where she devoted many hours to help with duties in the “cook shack.”

Nancy was an Angel on Earth and is now an Angel in heaven. We will forever miss you, Mom.

Nancy is proceeded in death by her parents David L. and Carol Wheat, her Aunt Sharon Coles, Uncle Gordy Coles, and many other family members.

Nancy is survived by her 2 daughters and Son-In-Laws, Erin (Brad) Cobban, and Holly (Brandon) Stidham. Her 5 Grandchildren, Kaydie, Kiriana, and Jayden Stidham, Wyatt, and Kenzie Cobban. Her siblings David (Joyce) Wheat, Lori (Jose) Serrano, and Peggy (Mitch) Mundy. 10 nieces and nephews. Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and other family members and friends.

Nancy will be cremated, and a celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 27th from 1 PM to 4 PM at Anderson, Stevenson, Wilke Funeral Home located at 3750 N Montana Ave, Helena MT.

Her final resting place will take place at a future date where she will join her mother and father at Valley View Cemetery in West Valley City, UT.

My Dear Sweet Big Sis Nancy,

    I am devastated!!!

    I NEVER SAID GOOD-BYE!

I never got the chance to say I love you,
I never got the chance to say I’ll miss you.
Nobody told me that you were going to die,
It hurts, I never said GOOD-BYE.

Where are you now, please talk to me,
Show yourself and let me see.
I know that can’t happen, no matter how much I try,
All I wanted to do is say GOOD-BYE.

I hope that you are happy wherever you are,
I have you in my heart no matter how far.
To the heavens above, I wish I could fly,
Only to give you a warm GOOD-BYE.

I will remember you each day that I live,
You were such a good person with so much to give.
Such a privilege to have known you, no one can deny,
I think it might be time to say GOOD-BYE.

I will keep with me the good times that we shared,
I want you to know just how much I really cared.
Till we meet again, on God we must rely,
I Love You, I Miss You, and for now, I must say GOOD BYE.

    March 26, 2023 at 1:17 pm

To Erin, Peggy, Lori, Holly, David and her many grandchildren family and friends, Nancy Carol, was my first niece and we enjoyed having our girls and son to raise together. We did not always live close but the love of one another was always there. I never had so much fun as when I was with there family, in West Valley, or Salt Lake or Montana. Nancy always kept me in touch with all of her family and with my family. I love her very much and am so sorry
for her sudden passing. Knowing she is with her Mom and Dad and Uncle Gordy and Aunt Sharon and our Lord and Savior helps. We all will miss her, from Aunt Geraldine and the Tyler family and Potts. We love you. Take care of yourselves now, she’s got a sweet posterity.

I don’t remember much from high school (over 40 years ago!} but I’ll never forget Nancy’s kindness and how she went out of her way to make me, a stranger from Seattle, feel welcomed. So sad to hear of her parting but I imagine every kiss and every hug she gave her children and her grandchildren were sincere and precious, meant the world to her, gave her meaning. I have no doubt she will live on through their memories and I hope they find peace. Such a sweet soul.
