Paul Nash passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from pneumonia at St Peter’s Hospital in Helena.
Paul was born June 24, 1942 to Jessie and William Nash in Shelby, Montana. He grew up in Devon, Montana and at Lakeside in the Flathead Valley. His sister, Viola has fond memories of Paul as a young child of 4 or 5 playing with their little white dog in the small creek near their house. They would play tug of war right in the creek and Paul would get quite upset if the dog won. Then, there was the day that he crawled up on the table grabbed the bowl full of butter and put it on top of his head. Mother was not happy!
After completing his schooling Paul worked on farms and ranches in the Sweet Grass Hills in Toole County, near White Sulphur Springs and near Townsend. Paul became disabled after a farm accident that damaged his vision about 1990. He then moved to Helena to be near his sister Emma.
Paul was a long-time resident of the Serendipity Apartments (now the Firetower Apartments). He could often be found sitting on the bench in front of the apartments people watching, visiting with friends, and enjoying the sun. Paul often attended Alive at Five concerts and helped friends set up their booth at the Farmers Market on Saturdays. Paul was able to get to most of his destinations by walking and frequently walked to Vans for groceries and enjoyed breakfast and meeting friends at Hardee’s. The Walking Mall was a favorite destination also. Later when his health began to fail, the Park Avenue Bakery became his place for morning coffee and a roll.
Paul loved to reminisce about growing up with his siblings, hunting, fishing and camping in the Flathead Valley. Some of his favorite memories were about working on ranches in the Sweet Grass Hills.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leo, Edward, Frank, Virgil and Dan; sisters Emma, Verda, and Neva; niece Christine; and great-nephew Evan.
Paul is survived by his sister Viola and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul was such a wonderful man with a great sense of humor. I will always remember his spirit and his silly sayings, such as “what a life without a wife, and a good one too.” Hope you are at your ranch up in the sky having a visit and drinks with your friends. Thanks for letting us view the service and I am so sorry for your family for your loss.

It would be so cool if his name could be engraved on the bench out front. He was so kind to my ex husband. I will miss seeing him when I walk with my son and do laundry.
