Raymond (Ray) Pence of Helena passed away on the morning of October 20, 2016 at the age of 77 as a result of lung cancer. Ray was born and raised in Helena and graduated from Helena High School. Ray served in the Army and Army Reserves.
After serving his country, he owned and operated an automobile service station and wrecker service. Later he became a long haul truck driver and then a small business owner. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and card player; activities he shared with his loved ones. He met Roberta (Bobby) Clinton, his loving partner to the end, while playing bridge. He was happiest when he was with her. The things for which Ray will likely be most remembered are the direct nature in how he communicated with people, his devotion and generosity to those close to him, and a witty personality that he used on occasion. Those with whom he was closest will sorely miss him.
He is survived by his very special partner, Roberta (Bobby) Clinton of Helena, his brother Lewis (Lew) of Livermore, CA, his three children, Brett of Helena, Deborah of Corvallis, OR and Charles of Rochester, MN and his granddaughter, Madison of Corvallis, OR.

So sorry to hear of Rays passing. We rent storage units from Ray and so enjoyed visiting with him.

Ray and Bobby have been my neighbors for the past many years. I always enjoyed seeing Ray in the yard and visiting about the various vegetation, including his special fruit trees. I knew he was a “good” guy and diligent about his work; and when healthy enough, also very busy getting things done. I always appreciated his kindness and will miss his presence. With great sympathy to Bobby and all of Ray’s family for their loss.
