Robert “Bob” Carson McCarley Sr. also known as “RC” growing up and later known as “Pop” by his friends here in Montana.
Early morning August 28, 2017 at 12:15 a.m., Bob passed away at his Townsend, Montana home surrounded by family. After an extensive eight-year battle with cancer he finally is at peace. He was 76 Years Old.
Bob was born October 22, 1940 at Jumpertown, Mississippi. Bob was the first of three sons born to Conard B. and Gladys Garrett McCarley.
Bob was raised in Pratts Community just outside Baldwyn, Ms. Bob explored many occupations in his life from funeral home director, ambulance driver, store owner, but, out of all the hats he wore Law Enforcement was by far his greatest calling. He started his Career with Tupelo P.D., and followed with Lee County S.O., Booneville P.D., Iuka P.D., Chief of Police at Guntown P.D., and finally finished a ten year stretch with Tishomingo County S.O.
Following retirement Bob and wife Mary Ann McCarley moved from Saltillo, Ms. To Townsend, Mt in September of 2002. Bob soon went back to work part time with Lewis & Clark County Building Maintenance for seven years.
The things that stand out most that was in common with all the different hats he wore was how hardworking he was, always gave 150% no matter who he worked for, he was a people person, he touched many lives throughout the years especially in law enforcement, and big hearted, would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice. There is no end to what could be said about Bob, but, everyone who ever came into contact with him surely has a memory of him.
Bob was proceeded in death by brother: Junior McCarley, and daughter: Nan McCarley
Bob is survived by brother: Hester McCarley, wife of 48 years: Mary Ann McCarley, daughters Sissy & Kim, son Mac, along with 11 grand kids and 14 great grand kids.

Callie R Carter says
I am sorry for your loss. I knew Bob , R.C. as he was called , he was a neighbor growing up in younger
years and also a schoolmate. He was liked by all, always a quiet person. I last saw him when Nan died.
Hester would remember me. I was Callie Ruth Goggans Frederick. Tell Him “Hello” and so sorry for his loss.

Mary Ann and family, I am so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. He was a special individual but then each of you know that. You guys are in my prayers. I ask for our Lord to wrap His mighty arms around you and comfort you.
Elizabeth Troxler says
Mary Ann,
I’m not sure if you remember me or not. I am Elizabeth Swinney Troxler, Opal and Lee Swinney’s daughter. I’m so sorry to hear of the illness and passing of R.C. Although he was Mother’s first Cousin, he and Hester and Junior were more like brothers to us as they were closer in age to us than to Mother. R. C. was such a kind person. He always treated this pest of a girl so sweetly – almost like he would a little sister. I have such sweet memories of him and all of his family. Please know that my brothers, Lee Alvis and Jerry, and I are praying for you as you start your life without him by your side. My uncle, Earl McCarley, also sends his condolences on the loss of R.C.
