Robert Lee Grant, age 71, passed away on April 18, 2013 at home from a heart attack. Robert was born in Dover, Idaho to Ronald and Retha Grant on August 30, 1941.
Robert joined the US Army following High School and served in the Vietnam war. Robert was a decorated Special Forces Paratrooper and aircraft mechanic and later continued with the Army Reserve retiring after 20 years of honorable military service.
Robert met Gayla Jean Semenza in 1966. They married in Coeur d’Alene, ID on June 16, 1969 and later had three sons and one daughter together, all born at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena.
Robert, Gayla and family moved from Helena to Washington State in 1986. Robert worked many jobs and eventually received his FAA airframe and power plant mechanics license while working at Boeing in Everett, WA.
Robert retired in 1995 after he suffered a spinal cord injury resulting from a sky diving accident. He eventually got better and assisted Gayla with her child care business in Marysville, WA. In 2003 Gayla and Robert moved back to Helena were Gayla fought breast cancer with the support of a their large extended family.
Robert is proceeded in death by his wife Gayla Grant, his children Don and Anna Grant, his brothers Alfred, Irvin, and Conrad Grant, his sister in law Ester Grant, and his parents Ronald Grant and Retha (Grant) Davis.
Robert is survived by his sons Ralph and Christopher Grant, brothers Kennith, Tommy and Donald Grant, many brothers and sisters in-laws as well as nieces and nephews all over the country.
