Tom was born August 27, 1943 at McAllen, TX to Thomas F. Galvin and Mary Elizabeth Covalt Galvin. The family moved to West New York, NY when he was a baby. They moved to New Jersey for a short time before they settled in Kingston, NY. He attended grade school in Kingston and high school in Saugerties, NY.

Tom worked two years at the State Health Dept. He then worked at several auto parts stores including Valley Motor Supply, Personal Pontiac and Parts Supply. He retired after twenty five years due to his diabetes.
It was at Personal Pontiac that he met the love of his life and best friend, Louise A. DeBree. They married April 22, 1978 at Birdseye. In 1979 Tom adopted Ivy Nan Galvin. Ivy and Louise were the inspiration for Tom to keep going these last difficult years. Tom and Louise renewed their vows while on a cruise to Alaska.
Tom attended Covenant United Methodist Church and was a member of Capital Carriages Antique Car Club. He enjoyed camping, antique cars and Scottie dogs. His pride and joy included his 41 Ford and 56 Ford. He enjoyed two cruises to Alaska and many trips to the Oregon coast.
