In the early morning hours of August 8, 2015, Virginia passed away at St. Peters Community Hospital in Helena, Mt after a brief illness with loving family at her side. She was 84 years old. One of 5 children, she was born to Anna and George Wagner on June 10, 1931 in Butte Mt.
Stories abound of the people she came to know in her restaurant career, beginning in Butte as a teenager and completing upon retirement many years later in Helena. She thoroughly enjoyed and spent many great days in her yard where beautiful vines and flowers flourished because of her green thumb. All of her home environment, inside and out, reflected her love of creation and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Jack, Bebe and Joanne and by her son Harold Whitney Uncles.
Virginia is survived by her daughters Stephanie Jill Jose, Virginia Louise Rushford, and Hazel Ann Yuhas as well as 3 surviving sons Stephen Forest Ashford, James Wagner Uncles, Glenn Willis Uncles and dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Carol Lloyd (Portland Or), numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Parish, 1502 Shirley Rd, Helena Mt. A Rite of Committal will immediately follow at Forestvale Cemetery and a luncheon reception at Our Lady of the Valley’s social center.

I have known Virginia since I was a little girl. I grew up in Joslyn trailer court and then lived in a rental when I was 18. Then my husband and I bought a trailer right across from Virginia and then eventually moved right next door to a nicer mobile. Just this last April we moved out of the trailer court into a double wide in another area. I saw Virginia on an almost daily basis when we lived across from her. She has always been a wonderful lady and has lots of stories to tell about her past experiences. She always kept busy with her gardening, she was very active for her age. She adored our son who is less than 2 years old and he seemed to like her as well. She always loved all the neighborhood kids. It was nice to know her and she will be greatly missed by many. Her time has come to be in heaven with God. I am sure she is happier there and she lived a full life on earth.
