Command Sergeant Major (ret) Werner A. “Dutch” Enderle, 87, peacefully passed away on January 27th, surrounded by his family at St. Peter’s Hospital, Helena, Montana. Dutch was born in Illinois, and grew up on a farm in Taylor, North Dakota. He enlisted in the US Army during World War II and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. While in Japan, he met his future bride, Therese “Emiko” Mori. Family and friends shared in their 60th anniversary celebration in 2010. Dutch served as US Army liaison with the Montana National Guard until 1972 when he retired with a 30 year distinguished career with several military awards, including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster.
He attained his personal goal of a Bachelor degree in English and graduated with honors in 1976 from Carroll College at age 52, while working full time.
